I have noticed that Filipinos are not serious weight watchers. Parents are partly to blame for this. Apparently an overweight child is a sign of a well fed and therefore a well loved child.
On the flip side, it also has a lot to do with unbridled yearning for Fast Foods and snacks. For example, I have rarely seen an empty Jollybee, McDonald or Shakey’s Pizza center.
Aerated soda drinks have an unhealthy high content of sugar and when was it that plain water was requested? Such are the pervasive trends today and it is no surprise that obesity is fast on the rise.
Is there a way to contain the problem? I am sure there are ways but it yields to the ever present bottom line profits that the Industry will not give in that easily as well as lack of self control. For those who need to make a change in their lifestyle before they succumb to a grave illness brought on by obesity, they should consider diets for quick weight loss as one of ways to keep their weight in check.
