Hinugyaw Festival is celebrated by the contituents of Koronadal City every January 3-10. This is a “weeklong celebration of merry-making, drum beats, beer and food festivals, celebrity concerts, sidewalk bargain shop, funfare and trade exhibits and the most celebrated Hinugyaw Street Dancing Competition” (Koronadal’s Official Website). Kuerdas was invited and took part in the merrymaking during the culmination of the event. Kuerdas’ performance was made electrifying because of the people’s ardent longing for reggae music. When people started dancing, some misunderstandings took place which almost resulted to a stampede. But this was controlled by the able presence of the authorities. The show can not be stopped just like that. The party continued and the event was graced by the presence of none other than the electrifying performance of my cousin Ally who is still on vacation.
